What is “Feature My NFTs”?

“Feature My NFTs” is an optional setting that lets OpenSea consider NFTs held in your connected wallets for inclusion in OpenSea-produced marketing content — including videos, still images, social posts, and other creative content produced by or for OpenSea.

The setting is off by default in your Profile settings. Nothing happens unless you turn it on. You can turn it off again at any time.

Turning it on does not guarantee that any of your NFTs will be selected. Selection is at OpenSea’s discretion.

What you are granting OpenSea

When you turn on “Feature My NFTs,” you grant OpenSea a license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, modify, and create derivative works of NFTs held in your connected wallets, solely for the purposes described below.

The specific terms of that license are:

  • Permitted use: Marketing and promotional use of OpenSea and its products and services. This includes use in videos, still images, social posts, advertising, on-platform features, and other promotional content produced by or for OpenSea. It does not include commercial sales of derivative goods (for example, OpenSea will not sell physical merchandise depicting your NFT).

  • Territory: Worldwide.

  • Duration: The license is perpetual and irrevocable with respect to marketing content that OpenSea has already produced featuring your NFT while your consent was active. Withdrawing consent stops your NFTs from being selected for new content but does not require OpenSea to take down, alter, or stop distributing content that was already produced under your consent.

  • Modification rights: OpenSea may edit, crop, resize, animate, overlay, color-correct, and otherwise modify the NFT image for use in marketing content. The original NFT itself is not modified.

  • Sublicense rights: OpenSea may sublicense these rights to (a) its marketing partners, agencies, and contractors working on OpenSea-branded content, and (b) third-party platforms where the marketing content is distributed (for example, X, Meta, TikTok, YouTube), in each case solely for the purpose of producing or distributing the marketing content.

  • No exclusivity: The license is non-exclusive. You remain free to use your NFT and to grant licenses to others.

  • No payment: OpenSea is not obligated to pay you for the use of your NFT in marketing content. If your NFT is featured in a video or image, OpenSea may — at its discretion — offer you a mintable NFT of that content as described below; this is a courtesy, not consideration for the license grant.

What you are confirming when you turn it on

By turning on “Feature My NFTs,” you confirm that, for each NFT held in your connected wallets, you hold the commercial license and sublicense rights necessary to grant OpenSea the rights described above.

Holding an NFT does not always mean you hold the rights to license its underlying artwork. Some collections grant holders broad commercial and sublicense rights (for example, CC0 collections, or BAYC under its current terms); others grant only personal, non-commercial use. Before any NFT is featured, OpenSea will independently confirm that the underlying collection grants its holders a commercial, sublicensable license sufficient for OpenSea’s intended use. NFTs from collections that do not grant those rights will not be selected, regardless of your opt-in status.

If your NFT is featured

If OpenSea selects one of your NFTs and uses it in a piece of marketing content, OpenSea may offer you a mintable NFT of that marketing content — for example, the final video — delivered to the wallet that held the featured NFT at the time of selection.

Any mintable NFT delivered to you is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. OpenSea retains all rights in the marketing content itself, including the right to continue using and distributing it. You may display, share, and transfer the mintable NFT, but you may not commercialize the marketing content (for example, by selling derivative goods or sublicensing it to third parties for promotional use) without OpenSea’s separate written permission.

Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw consent at any time from the same settings toggle. Withdrawing consent:

  • Removes your NFTs from consideration for any new marketing content from the time of withdrawal forward.

  • Does not affect marketing content that OpenSea already produced featuring your NFTs while your consent was active. That content remains licensed under your prior consent and may continue to be used and distributed.

You can grant consent again at any time by turning the setting back on.

What happens if you transfer or sell an NFT

Your consent for “Feature My NFTs” is tied to the wallets connected to your OpenSea account at the time of selection. If you transfer or sell an NFT to a wallet that is not connected to your opted-in account, your consent for that NFT is automatically withdrawn going forward. The new holder will need to opt in separately for that NFT to be considered for future marketing content.

This does not affect marketing content that was already produced while the NFT was eligible.
