We take fraud very seriously at OpenSea and work to neutralize threats on our platform as soon as we identify them. The sale of stolen items, converted items, fraudulently obtained items, items taken without authorization, and other illegally obtained items on OpenSea is prohibited.
This guide explains how we handle stolen item reports and explains how you can contact us if you are affected.
Checking the item on OpenSea
When OpenSea receives a credible report or learns that an item is stolen, we lock the item so it cannot be bought, sold, or transferred using OpenSea. Items that have been locked will feature a red banner on the item page, indicating they are locked.
Locking the item on OpenSea does not prevent sellers from using other platforms not controlled by OpenSea or interacting directly with the blockchain to transfer or sell the items. We are a peer-to-peer platform for buyers and sellers to connect with one another and we do not have custody of the NFTs on our platform.
What should I do if my item is affected?
If you believe an item listed on OpenSea was illegally obtained, please submit a support ticket to our Trust & Safety team.
Include the item URL, the collection or contract address, and any evidence demonstrating that the item was illegally obtained.
