What are Stock Tokens on OpenSea?

OpenSea’s Swap feature connects users to token swaps provided by our swap providers. This now includes stock tokens that exist on Robinhood Chain. These tokens are provided by Robinhood Europe and track the prices of US-listed stocks and ETFs. They do not represent a direct holding of the underlying security.

How Stock Tokens Work

Stock tokens give you price exposure to US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Each token tracks one share or unit of the underlying asset, priced by NASDAQ.

You can buy in at the current price of the underlying asset and sell out at the then-current price, subject to fees and market conditions.

What You Do and Don’t Own

Stock tokens provide exposure to price movements. They do not give you:

  • Ownership of shares or units of the underlying stock or ETF

  • Voting rights at shareholder meetings

  • Dividend rights (though dividend adjustments may be reflected in token pricing)

  • The ability to redeem tokens for the underlying shares

Risks

Stock tokens carry a high level of risk. Key risks include:

  • Counterparty risk. Robinhood Europe is the sole counterparty to every position. If Robinhood Europe is unable to pay, you could lose your entire investment. Stock tokens are not subject to investor compensation or deposit insurance.

  • Market risk. The value of your position depends on the price of the underlying stock or ETF, which can fall as well as rise. You could lose some or all of your investment.

  • Currency risk. Stock tokens are priced in USD. If you transact in a different currency, exchange rate movements will affect your returns.

  • Liquidity risk. Trading is generally available during NASDAQ trading hours (9:30 to 16:00 Eastern time). Extended hours trading may be available but involves wider spreads, higher volatility, and less liquidity.

Fees

Standard OpenSea swap fees apply to stock token trades. See OpenSea’s swap fees page for current fee details.

Availability
