If you use an email login wallet on OpenSea, you can pay network fees (commonly called "gas") using supported stablecoins instead of a chain's native token. This feature is powered by account abstraction and is enabled by default for email login wallets.
Account abstraction is a blockchain upgrade that lets your email login wallet behave like a smart account. Instead of requiring a native token for every transaction, your wallet can bundle actions together and pay gas fees using supported stablecoins. The first time you use this feature on a supported chain, your wallet is upgraded to a smart account through a one-time delegation. This happens automatically as part of your first bundled transaction, so there are no extra steps.
Buying an NFT with stablecoins
Here is how to purchase an NFT without holding a native gas token:
Navigate to the NFT you want and click Buy now.
On the checkout screen, find the "Pay network fees with" dropdown and select a supported stablecoin for that chain.
Click Confirm.
Enter your authentication code when prompted.
Swapping tokens with stablecoins
If you do not have the native token for gas, you can select a supported stablecoin to cover the network fee when swapping tokens.
Sending tokens with stablecoins
You can also use a supported stablecoin to cover network fees when sending tokens.
Supported chains and stablecoins
This feature is currently available on a number of chains, including: Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum One, Arbitrum Nova, Optimism, Polygon, and more. The supported stablecoins for gas payment vary by chain.
Disabling this feature
If you want to disable this feature, navigate to your Profile settings, click Embedded Wallet, and under the Smart Account section, uncheck Enable User Operations.
There are a few things to keep in mind:
This feature only works with email login wallets. WalletConnect and MetaMask wallets are not supported
Not all chains are supported yet
The one-time wallet delegation is required once per chain and is included in your first bundled transaction at no additional cost
Gas fee quotes are estimated and may vary slightly at the time of execution
